November 21 - Regular Weekly Meeting

Last Wednesday, we had a happy discussion on our itinerary to Malaysia. For the information of those who were not present, we shall depart via Clark International Airport on the 28th of this month. Upon arrival in Malaysia, we shall attend the induction of our sister club, the Rotary Club of Bukit Bintang, whose Guest of Honor and Speaker is no less than R.I. President Wilf Wilkinson. Their Induction coincides with the Zone Institute. The following days will be a tour of Malaysia-Genting, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur, etc. We thank PP Noel and Ann Joyce who had been working hard to make our trip an enjoyable and memorable one. Last Wednesday noon, I met with the Officers of our InterAct Club of Balingasa High School where we agreed to do three (3) projects this year. 1-Career Talk to all 4th year high school graduating students, scheduled on the 27th of this month; 2-School Housekeeping and Beautification; 3-Tree Planting; which shall all be a continuing project of RCB. I’m therefore calling on volunteers from our club to assist me on these projects. Share your time, effort and experiences and talk about your profession/vocation to the students.

Last Saturday, we had our Sharing President’s meeting and among the items discussed are about the payment of SAR. In fact, I received a letter from Gov. Danny Fausto reminding me to already register our new members which I intend to do in January.

The other items taken up during the meeting were:
1-Payment of Paul Harris Fellow Contributions by those who pledged;
2-Implementation of District Initiated Service Projects;
3-Creation of Website/Consistent issue of Weekly Club Bulleting;
4-Public Relations Projects-World Peace Celebration, Billboards, Press Release and Radio Programs;
5-Remittance of District Car Raffle;
6-Membership Development;
7-R.I. Awards-Membership Growth, TRF, Discon Attendance;
8-TRF Recognition during the DISCON;
9-District X’Mas Party and Tribute to the Past Presidents;
10-RC-Loyola Heights Cataract Operation Project.

After the President’s meeting, we proceeded to V. Luna Day Care Center to join RC-Paraiso in the launching of their Book Reading and Story Telling Services to street children; as well as their Charter Anniversary Celebration. The Charter President of RC Paraiso is Dr. Paraiso, the father of PP Doc. Rico Tongos. From there, some of us already proceeded to de Ocampo Farms in Pandi, Bulacan for our monthly Sharing President’s fellowship, where we had fun bonding with our classmates.

Last Monday, select group of Sharing Presidents were called for a meeting with the District Governor, DGN and some Past Presidents. The meeting was about the forthcoming District Christmas Party cum Tribute to the Past Presidents. I was designated as Co-Chairman of the occasion with DGN Dulce Coyukiat as the Overall Chairman. A fund raising strategy was adopted wherein a tarpaulin bearing the face of the Past President, President and PE’s will be given out for a donation of –P-1,000.00 for the Past President’s Fund; that will partly finance the affair. RC-Balintawak has been noted to be one of the clubs with the most number of Active Past Presidents. Thus, I enjoin every PP as well as PE Donn to support and donate –P-1,000.00 for the worthy cause of the Past Presidents. Likewise, the District Christmas Party is not only for Past Presidents but for all Rotarians of the District. Each Club will only pay –P-2,500.00, and there will be no limit to the number of attendance to the party. Looking forward to your presence on the occasion…Mabuhay ang RC Balintawak…..

Thought for the Week:

But how many Live in a Manner that others can Learn from?”
